How do I become a member?
First read the following (these are also the words you will say to others when you are making them into members): “In much of our society we are faced with the concept of exclusivity and all kinds of exclusive clubs like male- or female-only clubs, age-restricted clubs, exclusive sports clubs and so on. Yet the reality is that we are all part of humanity, we breathe the same air and we all share gravity. So why not practice ‘inclusivity’ instead?”
Then use a pen to draw a smiley face onto your own thumb (two dots for eyes and a curve for a smiley mouth as in the image on the right) and touch the pad of your thumb against the thumb image on the right to confirm your membership. At the same time repeat to yourself, 'I am now a member of the Twinkling Eyes Club and I will make other people members too.' You are now a member and can start spreading 'miles of smiles' and 'sprinkles of twinkles' amongst others! Whenever you have the opportunity, redraw the smiley face on your thumb with a pen to refresh it.
How do I make others into members?
First ask the other person if they would like to become a member of the Twinkling Eyes Club, explaining that it is the only non-exclusive club in the world and outlining the introduction as given above. If they say ‘yes’ redraw the smiley face on your own thumb with a ballpoint pen and then draw another smiley face on their thumb and press your two thumbs together. Watch them smile as you tell them, 'You are now a member of the Twinkling Eyes Club!'
Ask them to repeat the phrase, 'I am now a member of the Twinkling Eyes Club and I will make other people members too.' Then invite them to spread 'miles of smiles' and 'sprinkles of twinkles' to everyone they meet and to repeat this procedure themselves often!
